bungle

since discovering a week or two ago that secret chiefs 3, one of my most-listened bands during my community college years and one of the few bands i've tried to see live (several times but have been unable to due to location), is coming to town this thursday, i've been re-exploring them and to a fuller extent, their composer's former band, mr. bungle.

bungle is an amazing group of musicians and songwriters. they are certainly not for the weak of stomach, but i suppose that's half their appeal. if you're feeling brave, i strongly suggest their ou818 demo and... the albums... the albums are a whole world different from the demos, so it's hard to say, but california is mostly perfect.

PS:

my rips of my copies of their first and third LPs are mostly done. eventually, when i get around to actually setting up my other blog ("yeah, whatever"), they will be posted online (gotta figure out hosting as well). i don't have good equipment but i do have good ears, and the wax certainly still sounds better than the CD.

i dunno, maybe i should just wait to get that pre-amp for my other player first. too busy now to worry about it, just felt like teasing the internets with what will at some point become available.
