why am i reading octavia e butler? philip k dick is a far more interesting and talented author. butler has great things to say, the questions she provokes are intriguing and powerful, but dick is just a better writer. better prose, better ideas, an overall more artistic and effective use of language.
"The odd thing in this world is that an eager-beaver type, with no original ideas, who mimes those in authority above him right to the last twist of necktie and scrape of chin, always gets noticed. Gets selected. Rises."

food
i love making food. how did this happen?
i just like cooking. thinking about it the same way i've learned to think about the creation of music, writing, any creative process really, made a lot more sense to me. i like any activity that effectively combines creative and improvisational aspects. improvisation and creation; not a lot of people would list those as their interests, would they?
let's cook.

wakamatsu
no class today.
i still have yet to finish the last two of stanley kubrick's filmography. my new director of interest, however, is koji wakamatsu. i am very intrigued by his work, though a little hesitant to watch it despite my excitement. he does creepy stuff.
i don't understand this at all but i think it is awesome.
